I really love you guys...it's this wonderful work that allows me to take the time off from other things...and just play. I've always been a gamer at heart, it comes and goes in phases. Sometimes it's video games, and I'll always be a Legend of Zelda fan. RPGs are my favorite, of many flavors. Most Mondays I am at a D&D game that often goes late into the night. In a way, it's nice to get all that done on Monday, and have a little more focus the rest of the week.
This month, however, we had to take a break from the dungeon crawl due to schedules. To fill that desire, I dug out the box of Illuminati cards and started playing again. Illuminati: New World Order is a Steve Jackson game from the 90s, and has the most complicated rules of any CCG I know. You and your rivals build power structures within your secret order while trying to accomplish secret goals and stop them from doing it first. My friends and I have had fun with it.
Play is something important to me...to give the grown up parts a time to rest, and be silly for a bit. When it's time to play adult again, I have more energy and stamina to play by those rules. I am more at peace.
